I always like the word free when it comes to family fun! Things get so expensive these days when we try to take our kids places. Sometimes, the best memories we make are when we do basic things together that aren’t a bunch of “hoopla!” Get your kids away from the TV and video games this weekend and take them to Amicalola Falls, one of Georgia’s most popular state parks.
This Saturday there are two free events that are educational and if your children love animals, should really enjoy. The first event is from 10 to 11am and is called “For Goodness Snakes” Your boys should love this one as they will show various snakes and discuss how snakes help control rodent populations and are an important part of our ecosystem. Come learn about these misunderstood reptiles. Meet at the Park Visitor Center. The ONLY cost is $5 to park. The event itself is free.
The second event takes place from 1 to 2pm and is called “Close Encounters of the Bird Kind.” Here, you will meet Zeus, a very popular bird at Amicalola! Meet the feathered legend and other non-releasable birds of prey during this entertaining program.
In between these shows, your family could enjoy a picnic at this beautiful park. There is also a playground and creeks. Not to mention the falls that you can climb up! Come enjoy the full day together as a family surrounded by nature and God’s beauty that He has created!
