My third suggestion for fall fun in the North Georgia Mountains is one that I have thoroughly enjoyed in the past years! On two different weekends this October,(12-13th & 19-20th), come to beautiful Blairsville in Union County to enjoy the Sorghum Festival!
What is a Sorghum Festival? (I thought you may ask that!) You can search the world over but won’t find a better mountain grown syrup that compares with the sorghum syrup that Blairsville can grow due to their rich mountain soil and climate! In early October the farmers of the Blue Ridge Mountains start cutting and stripping the cane and before November comes, thousands of gallons of the best syrup in the world are ready to enjoy. The festival is a way of celebrating this heritage with the community and others that love and appreciate the mountain area!
On October 12th at 11am the parade will kick off this 44th annual tradition! There will be a car show on the 19th at 9am that is always a great time and turnout! Check out this calendar to show you all the events that will be happening at this famous festival. Make plans to celebrate this fall in the mountains! I know you will have a blast and make more family memories! If you happened to have missed my first two suggestions of fall fun, check them out here. (one and two) !
