ride-the-rail-festivalMy #13 idea of fall fun was such a blast last year and I know it will be again!  Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 21st for the annual Ride the Rails Festival in Mineral Bluff, Ga, just outside of Blue Ridge!

This is a great annual event that the Tri State Railroaders will host.  They are a group that hosts festivals and events during the year for model railroad enthusiasts!  Whether you are a total train enthusiast or not, this event is great fun for the whole family.  You will take a 5 mile round trip by railroad motor car traveling through the Iron Bridge over the beautiful Toccoa River.  You will then return back over the bridge to the historic Mineral Bluff Depot.

For the motor car rides, there is a suggested donation of $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for children 2-12.  Fort the hand pump car rides, $1.00 per person per round trip. As with all fun mountain events, there will be local vendors, tons of food, snacks and drinks!   Visit the depot and see the progress being made on the large “HO” gauge model railroad based on the “Old Line” from Atlanta to Etowah, TN and through Mineral Bluff to Murphy, NC! The hours for the event are Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
