The Mountain Life Team Blogger June 3, 2013

adventure-trail-ride-2Over the next month I will be writing about 20 different ideas for summer fun in the beautiful mountains of North Georgia.  You can choose to come and relax in the mountains or to enjoy a ton of outdoor fun that is to be had in these areas.  I will be highlighting fun ideas in four different North Georgia counties including Gilmer, Fannin, Towns and Union.

The first idea is one I love!  I don’t know about you, but I have always been fascinated with horses.  I have personally never owned one, but their beauty and strength are amazing to me.  If you love horses and all the nature that surrounds the North Georgia Mountains, Adventure Trail Rides may be just what you are seeking.

Adventure Trail Rides is located in Cashes Valley, a area of awesome scenery just a little northwest of Blue Ridge.  You are able to purchase a variety of packages of horseback riding that will suit your needs.  The minimum package is $27.50 and that includes an hour of scenic trails and even a few exciting obstacles.  There are also packages for the more advanced rider as well as an adventurous beginner.  There is even a really cool package that consists of finding a treasure along your ride…a beautiful natural stone cross that can be found in the mountains.

Owner Derrick Callihan is a member of the first Alabama Calvary and the Cowboy Mounted Association.  He has definitely been involved with horses all throughout  his life and is truly doing what he loves. Callihan also boards horses here as well.

Whatever package you choose, you will be surrounded by the amazing Appalachian Mountains, old farmhouses, all types of nature, possible wildlife and rural scenery.  You can also enjoy lunch or a snack at the Trailside General Store that is now open.  They serve hamburgers, hotdogs, funnel cakes and much more.  I hope you enjoy your ride and your  day with one of God’s special creatures.  Stay tuned for 19 more summer fun ideas in the days to come!
