This number 10 idea is a great way to get the kiddos out of the house, exercising and enjoying all of the beauty that surrounds you in the North Georgia Mountains.
How many of you have been on a good family hike where all youhear around you is nature instead of the many buzzing sounds of technology? Pack up the car and head up to God’s country to enjoy a great hiking adventure.
You can choose a variety of trails on your own or for more of a mapped out idea for you in areas to hike, go to the trout adventure trail website to guide you. This is a FREE family event where you can even earn a badge for doing it. Though the website teaches much about trout, it is a great way for the kids to learn about science and nature such as testing the water temperature of the trout streams.
The trails through the trout adventure website take place on the Appalachian Trail and the Benton MacKaye Trail of Fannin and Gilmer counties. My children and I did this adventure and saw beautiful waterfalls, trout streams, mountain views and then felt a great sense of accomplishment when we earned our badge! So, have the kids put down the ipods and xbox and plan this fun family time! You will be glad you did! If you missed my #9 idea of summer fun, check it out here. Once again….happy summer and happy hiking!
