Are you looking for a fun day trip to the mountains but need to keep expenses down? My number 13 summer fun idea would be one for that! If you have not had the opportunity to visit the quaint town of Blue Ridge Georgia, you need to! Make a day of it by visiting so many awesome local shops, the city park, a walk through the art center and even the city pool!
A great agenda for a Saturday in my opinion would be to ride up early and get to the awesome L & L Beanery for breakfast. The food is fabulous and the kids will enjoy the smiley face pancakes. After breakfast, before it is too hot, let the kids run off some energy on the playground that is located in the middle of downtown. You will see a great wooden bear sculpture that is in the middle of the playground.
Tire them out enough to have a relaxing stroll through the city at so many local shops. I absolutely love spending time looking at adorable jewelry and clothing stores such as The Owls Nest and Blush 809, art and antique stores such as High Country Art and Antique and Sycamore Crossings and furniture stores like Walhala Ridge Furnishings. So many amazing things to see. After shopping, take a stroll through The Blue Ridge Art Center! You will enjoy seeing all the displayed art, including children’s art!
You can then eat at one of the fine restaurants in downtown like The Vine or Serenity Garden Cafe. Or perhaps you would like to picnic in the park area. Great shade trees and a nice area for that. Then, make the kids day by taking them to the city pool that only cost $3 to get in! They will love the two slides and diving boards!
This idea is to help you enjoy a fun filled summer day at a low expense! If you missed out on the #12 idea the other day, check it out here. Once again, happy summer in the North Georgia Mountains! Tomorrow I will write about the many different ways to celebrate Independence Day in the mountains!
