Have you ever had the opportunity to fly fish? Well, if not, this #16 summer fun idea sounds like a fun way to get started! Maybe you are uncertain as to what fly fishing is and how it is different from just regular ole’ fishing. Well, fly fishing is an angling method in which an artificial “fly” is used to catch fish. The fly is cast using a fly rod, reel, and specialized weighted line. If you would like to learn how to fly fish, or perhaps you already know how, you should visit the Firefly Lodge in Mineral Bluff, Ga, just outside of Blue Ridge.
Located on 90 acres of peace, quiet and beauty, this lodge offers a private stocked creek, and an experienced guide that can launch a drift boat and teach you the art of fly fishing. You can navigate between the creek and the Toccoa River depending on how experienced you are. There are a variety of packages to choose from on their website depending on what you are looking for.
Even if you are not interested in fishing, this lodge offers so much to enjoy. If peace and tranquility alone are not enough (although it would be for me), there are trails to enjoy a nature walk, a meadow for picnics, tubing or kayaking down the river as well as learning skills such as canning or fly tying. How about reconnecting with your kids without video games!?!? Play old fashioned fun family games like croquet, horseshoes or kickball. Check out this great place! I believe you will get a nice break from the hustle and bustle of life and enjoy some good quality family time. If you missed out on my last summer fun idea, check it out here.
