Sure…, computers, ipads, iphones and all the like can be great tools for us and it’s hard to imagine how we used to function without them. However, do you sometimes need a break from all of that? If you could use some time away this summer from the rat race to enjoy a little nature and outdoor time, check out my #19 idea of summer fun in the North Georgia Mountains at the Hike Inn at Amicalola Falls. I have written about these falls before because it is such an awesome state park that offers so much. However, staying at the Hike Inn can add a new twist to your visit!
In order to get to the Len Foote Hike Inn, you must make a five mile hike to get there. Experienced hikers as well as families and individuals do this on a year round basis. It is generally anywhere from a 2 to 4 hour hike. The trail begins at the top of the beautiful falls and takes you on an Appalachian trail journey crossing over several small streams. This trail has been labeled easy to moderate and Backpacking magazine named this hike as one of the 36 “Best American Hikes.”
Once you reach the inn, there are nice hot showers waiting on you as well as a dining area to fill your belly after working up a hearty appetite. The rooms are bunk bed type of rooms and do not have plugs for computers or anything. This is a get away from it all trip! Leave the ipad at home!! Check out their website for more details and rates. While you are in the area enjoying your stay, call us at The Mountain Life Team to show you some beautiful cabins in the surrounding North Georgia Mountain area.
