It’s Friday and looks like it is going to be a nice low eighties kinda weekend in the mountains of North Georgia. Today I would like to share idea number 3 of summer fun. In case you missed yesterday’s idea, take a peek at this. How about taking an adventure to another type of PEAK?
Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia, is a place that everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime. This beautiful mountain rises 4,784 feet above sea level. The peak of the mountain is divided by the county line – half of Brasstown Bald is located in Towns County and the other half in Union County.
The hike up the mountain is .6 miles long. It is quite steep, however, there are various resting spots along the way. My children hiked up as four year olds and made it with minimal complaining! Along the way, you will see so much beautiful nature that the climb will be worth it. You will definitely notice a temperature change as you get to the top which is awesome for this time of year! There is also a museum and a short movie to learn more about Brasstown Bald when you get to the top!
There is a tram to take you up the mountain if you prefer to do that. Whatever you do, I think your family will have an awesome time together. At the base of the mountain there are picnic tables to enjoy. The town of Hiawassee is beautiful and The Mountain Life Team can show you some amazing homes with views in this area. Happy summer in the mountains!
