In Fannin County, located in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains, exists over 100 miles of trout streams and rivers that weave throughout various sections of the 100,000 acres of the Chattahoochee National Forest. Within this forest land, the Trout Adventure Trail offers individual hikers, families and organized groups, opportunities to hike and learn about this amazing area. Recently a new hiking experience has opened using parts of the Appalachian and Benton MacKaye trail in Fannin County.
The new trail is a joint venture between the U.S Forest Service and Blue Ridge Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Within this new trail you have a choice of a short walk up to a 12 mile circuit loop to see waterfalls, trout streams, mountain views, hemlocks, wildlife and to learn about the trout in these areas.
The Trout Adventure Trail is basically a “do it yourself”, “plan your own hike” experience. You can earn a patch as a recognition of commitment to outdoor education, accomplishment and conservation. You should check this out and find what is suitable for you, your family or group. You will love all the beauty there is to behold and the kids can truly experience nature in a magnificent way and will love the patch they earn.
