If you are a lover of the arts and are a resident of Gilmer County or visiting this beautiful North Georgia Mountain town, you should visit Gilmer Arts and Heritage Association. Built in 1979 but relocated to a new building in 2005 at 207 Dalton Street in Ellijay, this facility adds a ton of art and culture that you don’t want to miss! Since relocating to the new facility, the center can now provide many additional activities. Some of the additions include community theater, auctions, a supper club, a gallery and a brand new gift shop that opened a week ago!
The arts center is a non profit facility that truly wants to bring quality events, programs and performing arts to Gilmer County. There are many classes in art, music and photography. There is also a section dedicated to children that are interested in developing their love for the arts.
On November 1st through 4th, there will be a hilarious musical show called “Smoke on the Mountain.” There are tickets available still! This would be a great way to visit this cultural Gilmer County facility. After you enjoy the show, stop off at Pooles to enjoy some good old fashioned Bar-b-q culture! Enjoy your time in the mountains!
