“Hole in the Wall” – A Casual and Yummy Union County Favorite!

The Mountain Life Team Blogger August 16, 2012

Yes, “Hole in the Wall” is a name and not just an expression.  Since 1931, this casual diner located in the square of Blairsville, Georgia has been quite a Union County favorite.

I had the opportunity to taste their yummy food for the first time yesterday and what a fabulous treat that was!   Their menu ranges from catfish, hamburgers, veggies, country fried steak to wonderful pies!  My family had everything from the fried steak to the BLT and hamburger and we left very satisfied.

The staff was very friendly, including owner Mark Cox.   I was greeted with many smiles and hellos.  I enjoyed hearing  a table of  local residents laughing and talking to the staff as if they were family.  When they left the restaurant, the waitress shouted, “I’ll see ya here tomorrow”   Then, a table behind me, a tourist couple, stated that “this is way better than a real hole in the wall!”

You can also choose to eat outside and have a nice view of the courthouse and town square.  If you do get the chance to visit this fun,  Blairsville diner, be sure to come with cash or a check.  No credit or debit cards accepted.   I’m sure if you’re like me, you don’t want to have to wash the dishes!!  Also, bring extra cash so you can purchase one of their “Hole in the Wall “  t-shirts to remind you of one of the many great places to eat in the North Georgia Mountains~
