Well, if you haven’t noticed, the North Georgia Mountains and Tennesee area are very popular places for a variety of races for many reasons, mainly because of the beauty of these areas. May 5th, the SERC Mountain Bike Race (southern eastern regional championship) will take place at the Ocoee Whitewater Center in Ducktown, Tennessee.
The race will be on the Tanasi Trail beginning at the site of where the 2006 Whitewater Olympics was held. This trail is a classic mountain bike course. It starts with a steep two mile climb and then when you eventually get to the top you have been climbing for nearly six miles. The reward comes with the famous “Thunder Rock Express” downhill. Total distance is 11 miles per loop.
