As I have always stated, the people of North Georgia love to have a great time! One of the things that go along with a great time is great food! Wouldn’t you agree? The fourth annual Jim Thompson Memorial Fire and Ice Chili Cook Off is always one of those fabulous times in Blue Ridge where you can bring all your friends and family out to taste a variety of awesome chili! For $10 you can purchase a “taste card” and taste as much as you want! There will also be beer, wine and meal tickets for $5.
From 1 to 4, a variety of participants are excited about showing you what they can cook up! The categories this year are 17 and under, civic organizations, restaurants and individuals. If you are interested in participating send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and they will send you a packet. It is always a great time because of the chill in the air and nothing can help cure that like a good bowl of chili! Blue Ridge on Ice will also still be open for the family to enjoy. Most of the quaint shops of Blue Ridge will be open as well so you can make a full day of it!
There will be Ice Sculpting in the Park which is an interactive event featuring professional ice carvers! Come see the ice carving demonstrations. Kids will enjoy having carvers write their names in ice or help them make their own abstract sculptures. Put your face into the body of an Ice Snowman and have your picture taken with the entire family.
There will also be live music entertainment alongside the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. Tap your toes to a lineup of family entertainment featuring local talent and surprise entertainers. Musical performances will be held at the Depot overlooking the Chili competition. Hope to see you there at this great event!
