I always enjoy Veterans Day and setting aside the time to honor all those whom have taken time from their lives, to protect mine. Although each day we should remember these fine people, it is great to have a special day set aside just for them. This year, Blue Ridge will host their annual parade in their honor on Saturday, November 10th.
The day will begin with the annual veterans breakfast, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, from 8 to 10:30 at St Anthony Catholic Church. After the breakfast the parade will begin in front of the First Baptist Church of Blue Ridge on East Main Street at 11am. The parade will end at the Veterans Memorial Park where there will be a service at noon. The service will be conducted by members of the Fannin County Veterans Organizations.
I will be there with my girl scout troop in the parade. The girls are looking forward to honoring our veterans by participating. Each girl also gets to participate with their class in a veterans day performance at their schools as well. I love how my kids can come home and tell me all they learned in song and from their teachers about Veterans Day at Blue Ridge Elementary School. If you are visiting in the area, you will not want to miss the parade. Let’s show these awesome veterans how much we appreciate them.
