Close to Lake Chatuge, the city is known as "the hidden jewel of trout fishing" and comes to life each summer hosting the Georgia Mountain Fair at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds. Close to Brasstown Bald, Georgia's highest elevation, Hiawassee is a quick two-hour drive from Atlanta but a world away from the city.
