Restaurants in the area offer comfort food like fried chicken, collard greens, fried okra, cornbread, and of course BBQ, while managing to stay modern with innovative chef-driven eateries scattered throughout the area. Folks stay entertained by exploring the mountain’s rugged beauty, spending time on one of the many lakes, and touring wine vineyards. Whether you’re looking for a unique find from an antique store or wanting to select your own pumpkin or Christmas tree, the shopping experience is king here in the mountains.

Outdoors & Recreation

The mountains are home to all-things outdoors and recreation as many here feel as if we are in God’s country. Outdoor lovers have their pick of hiking trails, waterfalls, state and local parks, lakes, and trails plus a multitude of things to experience nature with including mountain bikes, kayaks & jet skis, boats, whitewater rafts, ziplines, horses, and even fishing poles. Folks come for the adventure and stay for the scenery. Or sometimes, both. Either way, we’ve got something for everyone here in the mountains.

Schools & Education

Schools here in the mountains operate at a more concentrated level than what you’d typically find in the city. Smaller classrooms with lower student-to-teacher ratios are the norm as are specialty subjects and extracurricular activities such as 4-H, FFA, FHA, and saddle clubs. Technical schools are sprinkled all across north Georgia and western North Carolina teaching much-needed careers such as nursing, welding, agricultural & environmental sciences, electrical, culinary, and accounting.
