Come for a Christmas Tree, Stay for the Mountain Experience

Boy Choosing Christmas Tree

Head to North Georgia for a Fresh-Cut Christmas Tree, Shopping, a Great Meal and Some Gorgeous Views

Whether cutting your own or purchasing a pre-cut tree, a fresh-cut tree fills your home with the wonderful smell of pine while providing the perfect focal point for the holidays. This year, why not skip the “big box stores” and head to north Georgia for a live, farm-fresh tree! The kiddos will love the experience which you’ll quickly want to make an annual tradition in your family.

North Georgia has plenty of tree farms to choose from, however, you’ll want to make plans soon as many have a limited supply of trees. Here are just a few options you’ll find here in the mountains:

Barn Hill Tree Farm

Located in the beautiful, movie-looking town of Dahlonega, GA, Barn Hill Tree Farm is a family-owned farm since it opened in 2016. Enjoy hot chocolate while picking out the perfect tree. Cut it yourself or with the help of Big Ed—either way, the staff is friendly and will help you load it into or on top of your vehicle. They’re open Friday – Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. To confirm availability, call (770) 851-2432.

West Wood Farms

Located in Mineral Bluff, GA, West Wood Farms is a family-owned tree farm that originally began as an outdoor recreational property in 2006 but established a Christmas tree farm in 2014. Boasting much more than a tree farm, West Wood is open Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm and on Sundays from 1 pm to 5 pm. It’s best to check availability before heading out by calling them at (706) 383-7220.

Hemlocks Landscape

Boasting much more than landscaping services, Hemlocks is located in Jasper, GA offers pre-cut Fraser fir Christmas trees to the public. Visitors can also find holiday décor such as fresh garlands and wreaths as well as custom Barnwood decorations with a vintage vibe. Whether you like your tree plain or flocked, the friendly folks at Hemlocks will help you get your tree wrapped and ready for its new home. Their hours are Monday – Friday, 10 am to 6 pm; Saturdays, 9 am to 7 pm and Sundays; 10 am to 6 pm. Call ahead if you prefer a flocked tree and they’ll have it ready for you when you arrive. (706) 692-9064.

Kinsey Family Farm

Whether you prefer cutting your own or choosing from one of their pre-cut trees, Kinsey Family Farm’s family-owned hospitality will have you back year after year. They even offer living Christmas trees that can be planted after the holiday season to be cherished for years to come. The Farm, located in Gainesville, GA, also has a gift shop, fresh-made wreaths & garland, and family activities such as marshmallow roasting. Their hours vary, so check their website or call them at (706) 887-6028.

Bottoms Christmas Tree Farm

Purchased by the Bottoms family in 1993, the Bottoms Christmas Tree Farm in Cumming, GA, offers over 5,000 “saw-it-yourself” trees to choose from including a huge selection of fresh-cut Fraser Firs from North Carolina. Bring the family (and fur babies if leashed) and make a day of it especially when Santa is on-site for photos (see website for details), hayrides, hot chocolate, s’mores, and more! They’re open now through 12/18/2021 with the following hours: Monday – Thursday, 3 pm to 6 pm; Fridays, Noon to 6 pm; and Saturdays, 9 am to 6 pm. Call (770) 887-2728 for more information.

We invite you to come and spend time with us in the mountains, not just to choose the perfect Christmas tree but to see why we love this area so much. Not only for the hospitality but for the shopping, local site seeing and restaurants but the fresh mountain air.
